JEE Advanced 2017 is the IIT Joint Entrance Examination. 7 zonal Indian Institutes of Technology are conducting JEE Advanced 2017 or IIT JEE 2016 under the guidance of Joint Admission Board. This is 2nd stage of JEE after the CBSE JEE Main. JEE Advanced 2017, IITs or ISM offer admission into undergraduate (UD) courses leading to Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Science, or Pharmaceutics. Both Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees are awarded to candidates enrolled in dual degree programs upon successful completion of the course. In a few of the IITs, students enrolled into the 4 year Bachelor’s program have option to convert to B.Tech. or B.Tech.(Honors) with Minors.

JEE Advanced 2017 Eligibility


JEE Main: The first step being eligible for JEE (Advanced) or IIT JEE 2017 is to appear or qualify in JEE (Main) to CBSE in the month of April, 2017. The top 2,00,000 eligible candidates of JEE Main Paper 1 will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced 2017 exam.

Age limit: Candidate should be born after Oct. 1, 1992. Age relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC, ST, PwD candidates.

Number of attempts: A eligible candidate can attempt the IIT JEE for maximum 2 (two) times, that too as consecutive year attempts.

Appearance in Class XII examination: A candidate should have appeared for the Class 12th examination for the first time in all subjects in either 2016 or 2017. Candidates who appeared for the Class 12th examination in 2016 and wish to reappear in the same in 2017 will have to reappear in all the subjects in 2017.

Top 20 percentile in board exam: Apart from being in top 2,00,000 in JEE Main paper, the candidate.

Should be within category wise top twenty percentile in respective board; and Should have secured 75% (for Gen / OBC) and 70% (SC / ST / PwD) of aggregate marks in class 12 board exam. Last 2 years cut off for top 20 percentile has officially published by IITs.

Reservation in IITs


Indian nationals belonging to categories are admitted under seats reserved for them in accordance with rules of the Govt. of India. The categories and extent of reservation are as follows:

For OBC-NCL                  27%

For PwD                           3% horizontally

Defence Service (DS): Two seats are available for preferential allotment in every Institute for DS candidates.

Foreign Nationals: Candidates who are NOT citizens of India at time of registering for JEE Advanced 2017 are treated as foreign nationals. Seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of total no. of seats in every course.

JEE Advanced 2017 Exam Pattern


There are two question papers: Paper 1 or Paper 2 of 3 hours duration each. Both papers are compulsory. Each question paper shall consist of three separate sections, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The question papers will consist of objective type (multiple choice) questions designed to test comprehension, reasoning of candidates. Negative marks will be awarded for incorrect answers

Duration of exam: 3 hours paper.

JEE Advanced 2017 Architecture Aptitude Test


Architecture Aptitude Test for B. Arch. for the JEE Advanced 2017 Qualified Candidates:

Eligible Candidates desirous of joining the B. Arch. Courses shall be required to pass in an Aptitude Test. However the seat allotment will be done based on category wise All India Rank in the JEE Advanced 2017.

The paper test will consist of one paper of 3 hours duration. Question papers will be in English only. Candidates must register online at the JEE (Advanced Test. Only those candidates who would have given B. Arch program (available at IIT Roorkee  and IIT Kharagpur ) as one of their choices while filling choices online. No separate admit card will be issued to candidates. Candidates coming for the AA Test are advised to bring their drawing or coloring aids. Eligible Candidates securing marks above cut off will be declared as ‘passed’ the test or put on the JEE Advanced 2017 web page.
